I’m almost a month late, and this has been lying in my drafts all the while. A sort of mini tribute to the first programmer in history. She would’ve been quite the celebrity if she lived today. She was the daughter of Lord Byron, the poet.
The fact that the first programmer was in fact a lady is something worth noting. She was born too long ago and her work hasn’t (really) stood the test of time for her to be considered as a role model. Having more or the fairer sex in computer science should be a major goal for the people in charge of the computer science administration world-wide.
It must also be noted that computer science probably miss out on a number of charismatic male characters because of the lack of good female programming talent. Just saying. So cheers to Ada.
